EA is well known for producing games like there's no tommorow, especially after a record number of (rather good I might add) titles for the 360 in 2008. Yet recent news tells us that EA is to cut some 1100-1200 jobs worldwide and across all departments - which is a relatively large percentage of their total workforce. This may have a major effect on the development of many 2009 titles and will most likely result in poorer quality games and/or less games available overall.
So are there any possible solutions to this problem? Many are now questioning the ability of John Riccitiello, the big-cheese at Electronic Arts, to carry the company through the economy crisis and the recession - without having to make sacrifices for the quality of EA Games.
Lets hope those directors can develop a plan to help EA survive throughout the economic downturn and maintain the flow of Xbox360 releases throughout the year.
